  • That in the nhl they give a penalty for the other team. I have not seen more bad referees and calls that I watch football. But they are on par or worse. XD

  • I don't think it was a dive. It looked like he wasn't watching where he was going and legit ran his face into the guys chest protector.

    GetOutOfHim GamingGetOutOfHim Gaming4 päivää sitten
    • Yeah, the more I look at this the more I think he genuinely caught something to the mouth or upper lip. I thought at first maybe it was his helmet rotating down and his visor catching his lip, but he could have caught the stick in the teeth as well. Sensitive area; doesn't take a lot of speed or force to get a really sharp pain that stunns ya. The way he's checking his teeth and mouth in the box reminds me of times I could have sworn I cut my lip or tongue but didn't. I note that Elynuik didn't seem to be looking for a call either, which is what you normally get with diving calls. It's almost comical the way he falls back after such a low-speed collision, but a hit to the mouth would do that. Impossible to know for sure I suppose. Bad luck call.

      Chris KozlowskiChris Kozlowski4 päivää sitten
  • You can see his helmet snap backwards in the replay, what a shit call by the ref. Dude got butt ended in the face, bad call.

    GetOutOfHim GamingGetOutOfHim Gaming4 päivää sitten
    • @GetOutOfHim Gaming You're a pretty good troll. Helmet snapped back LOL

      Lyft EengLyft Eeng4 päivää sitten
    • @TRU Winnipegjets I don't see how that matters? People can have a different perspective on the event, doesn't make them right. My point is if the league is trying to protect players from headshots maybe don't punish someone who takes a headshot.... 🙄 Dude gets blasted in the head and falls down. The usual reaction to getting punched in the face. Either it's a penalty and they're trying to get that out of the game, or it's not a penalty and they gave him the dive penalty because he faked it. You can't both get punched in the face hard enough to make your helmet snap back, and also fake getting punched in the face... Consistency is important and the NHL/AHL etc, has none of it anymore. Refs have no clue what to call anymore.

      GetOutOfHim GamingGetOutOfHim Gaming4 päivää sitten
    • On behalf of all Leafs/Marlies fans, Stop. Your comment is almost as embarrassing as this dive. And I like Elynuik. He had a good showing in the 2019 training camp. But stuff like this will keep him out of the show.

      TRU WinnipegjetsTRU Winnipegjets4 päivää sitten
    • @TRU Winnipegjets the dudes helmet snaps backwards at the very least he got punched in the face. It's still bad call for "diving". Either the NHL cares and wants to protect the head at all costs or they don't and this is diving.

      GetOutOfHim GamingGetOutOfHim Gaming4 päivää sitten

  • Happy to see this. I havent seen a ref make a lone embellishment call in a long time. They always pussy out and call one on each, a trip on one team and a dive on the other,. And I’m always like HOW CAN IT BE BOTH!?

    It’s just SigIt’s just Sig5 päivää sitten
    • @Lee Ham you could make an argument that a “light” slash, crosscheck, hook or hold, happens on every shift. To call one, conveniently at the same time as an “embellishment” takes place is just such a cop-out. It does nothing. Mid as well go uncalled. If embellishment calls exist to deter embellishing, then they should be used how this ref used it. Not just when an infraction that would otherwise go uncalled takes place by the other team.

It’s just SigIt’s just SigPäivä sitten
    • The call is _embellishment_ , not diving. You can be tripped, and try make it more obvious for the refs to see by acting like the trip flipped you upside down. It was still a trip, but you embellished, so you both get a penalty. Same thing with slashing. You can embellish a slash by acting like it took your arm off. The opponent gets a slashing call (because he actually slashed you), and you get embellishment. It also covers dives, like the dive in this video. This guy tried to make something out of nothing, and he got 2 minutes.

  • Did I catch that correctly? They only called the guy for diving and put the other team on the PP?!?!? Awesome!! That's the first time I've seen that happen usually they call one from each team and it's a 4 on 4. I hate that. They should just call the diver and put the other team on the PP, that'll start to stop all the B.S. flopping. This is hockey, not sissy soccer.

    Ian SchrothIan Schroth5 päivää sitten
    • The reason they often call both is if a player gets their stick in the legs of a player and they embellish the fall, the player still tripped someone but the player exaggerating the play for a call also gets a penalty.

      Kato 1to3Kato 1to315 tuntia sitten
    • @Kato 1to3 The area of the lip under the bridge of the nose is a pressure point. There are several on your body. A light pressure on these points hurts; an impact is jarring. All depends where on the face.

      Brendan WoodBrendan Wood16 tuntia sitten
    • Meanwhile guys take puck to the face gets back up in a nano and skate to the bench...

      Kato 1to3Kato 1to316 tuntia sitten
    • He was looking down and to his left when he made the drop pass; then he put his head down, turned right to circle the net and didn't see the player immediately beside the net; when he saw him he tried to stop but could not stop and collided with the but end of the guys stick on his lip. Which does hurt even if it looks low speed. There should not have been a penalty for either player.

  • I think this is the first embellishment penalty I’ve seen where they didn’t also call the other guy for a penalty

    Christoph5782Christoph57825 päivää sitten
    • You know why? This had no action from the opponent. No-one fouled Elynuik. There was just the dive, so you call just the dive. If you get fouled and you dive, you both get penalties. The original foul is still worth a penalty and it does not disappear just because the other player decides to flop after being fouled. Trip is a trip, even if the tripped player jumps.
