I always enjoyed watching the Duke. He was tough as nails and just kept throwing punches no matter what. So sorry he lost to his demons later in life but I still remember him as a champ.

Memoreeees! Yea, I remember this guy in Rocky 5. As a kid I really didn't fully appreciate Rocky V and it was sort of a letdown. But as an adult it has much to offer. This guy, though, was a great representative of those times. He is missed greatly. I had read in a article before he passed, I think, that someone burned down his house. I think he got saved before his passing as well. So he will be back.

Yea, Tommy "The Duke" Machine Gun Morrison is my all time favorite. I also still enjoy watching his ko's, and still get a twisting knot deep in my gut to watch him fall :). For the title shot w/Big George Foreman he trained some at VMI (Virginia Military Institute) 40 min. away, was lucky enough to get some pics w/him. Just another neighborhood hang-a-round he was like. GB / RIP

Man big George can take a punch i remember watching him against a young Holyfield in his prime and Holyfield put everything he had into his punches and George didnt go down..it staggered him but that had to be frustrating for him and others who fought George...hes never been knocked out One of the greatest ever..i was never really a huge fan of George but he earned my respect for being aorund so long, being competitive as long as he was and he didnt end up like ALi...had one hell of a boxing career.. even at 50 he was challenging for the World title..says alot about how good he was.

I think Tommy was limited in some ways and fought a few tomato cans but was a legitimate contender. For a muscled up guy could let his hands loose. Perhaps less of the good life may have helped him ,but was no match for a few of his opponents. Also think he lacked the respect he deserved because he was related to the Duke.
